Marvel confirms Black Panther 2 is coming

In one of its largest announcements to date, Marvel Studios announced which movies it is planning to release over the next three years as part of its plans post-Endgame. The announcement, made at the 2019 Comic-Con event in San Diego, USA, saw Marvel declare we should expect no less than 10 movies including Black Panther 2.

Although Kevin Feige, President at Marvel, announced planned release dates for most of the movies, he did indicate that Black Panther 2, Blade, Captain Marvel 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Fantastic Four, and Mutants are all going to happen, they just have not confirmed their release dates yet.

Known as Marvel’s Phase 4 after what happened in Avengers Endgame, the list of films to be released over the next three years is a mixture of existing characters as well new ones given that some older characters seem to have been conclusively discontinued after Avengers Endgame. This announcement could also be seen as bolstering Disney’s plans for its streaming platform to rival Netflix and Amazon as it can now present viewers with compelling exclusive content.

Of particular interest to Africa, given the amount of hype it generated in 2018 with movie goers dressed in African attire when watching the movie, is Black Panther 2. Although Feige couldn’t confirm a date or any further details, rumours are that Marvel has retained the services of Ryan Coogler and the creative team that worked with him on the first Black Panther movie.

It is also suggested that Black Panther 2 will begin shooting in early 2020.
