K9-Angels founder Gail Holder has released an update for Times-Standard readers on a June 5 story seeking contributions for critically needed veterinary care for three ailing rescue dogs.
“Offering heartfelt gratitude to the many folks who so generously sent funding which covered the preliminary care for Pepper, Tiki and Rocky,” Holder said.
Holder’s recent consultation with Ferndale Veterinary included a series of X-rays on Pepper whose need for surgery has now become urgent, she said.
“Those able to help are urged to send donations made out to Humboldt Veterinary Medical Group (HVMG) noting bottom left ‘K9-Angels RSQ dogs.’”
Donations can be sent toK9-Angels P.O. Box 695, Fortuna CA 95540, where Holder may retrieve them to be personally delivered to the Ferndale Veterinary Clinic.
“The growing tumor on Pepper’s rear leg is precariously positioned so as to render Dr. Flores’ recommended surgery ‘a lengthy and delicate procedure.’ The surgery is estimated to cost $2,500 but if done in a timely manner a lifesaving outcome is anticipated,” Holder said.
She added: “Prior funding has covered a significant amount of both Tiki and Rocky’s needs.”
