Air Saguenay reported on Tuesday that three persons are dead and the fate of four others not immediately known after a plane crash on Monday in Labrador.

Air Saguenay president Jean Tremblay said the aircraft went down in a lake and was carrying four passengers on their way to a fishing expedition, two guides and the pilot.

Monday’s incident is the third involving downed aircraft — two of then confirmed crashes — to occur in Quebec in less than a week. On Friday, three people died after the float plane they were in went down near Lac Boulène, southeast of Chibougamau, which is about 500 kilometres north of Montreal. On Thursday, a helicopter carrying the head of the Savoura tomato production firm and his son was reported missing as the two returned from a fishing trip in Lac-De La Bidière in the northern Laurentians. The search for the pair, conducted by provincial police and the Canadian Armed Forces, continues.
