BREAKING: Armed Man Attacks ICE Prison With Incendiary Devices, Gets Taken Out

Tacoma, WA – A man armed with a rifle and incendiary devices was fatally shot by Tacoma police officers Saturday morning as the suspect attacked a prison for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees.

The incident happened at around 4 a.m. Saturday morning at the Northwest Detention Center, according to KOMO.

The Northwest Detention Center is a privately-run prison used to hold ICE detainees.

Police were called by a detention center employee for a man armed with a rifle who was throwing incendiary devices. At least one vehicle caught fire in the attack.

The suspect continued throwing the devices, and was in the process of trying to ignite a large propane tank and blow up buildings when confronted by Tacoma police officers, according to Tacoma PD.

During the confrontation, the suspect was fatally shot.

Nobody important was injured in the incident.

The four officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

The attack comes after a push by U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to label detention centers as “concentration camps.” Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has also accused Customs and Border Protection officers of being threatening towards her.

The motive for the attack has not been released at this time. The identity of the suspect has not been released.
