Record heat! New Orleans comes 1 degree shy of breaking historic temperature mark | Weather

How hot was it in New Orleans on Saturday? Historically hot.

The National Weather Service recorded a temperature of 99 degrees at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, tying the record of 99 set on this date in 1998.

The airport in Slidell hit 100 degrees and broke the old record of 97 set in 1998.

The normal high temperature for this time of year is in the low 90s.

Just to the east in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Lott International Airport there recorded a record high of 103.

Highs in the mid-to-upper 90s will continue for the next several days in south Louisiana. 

Rain chances creep up a bit to 40 percent by Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
