Pedestrian dies after being hit by train near La Fox station

GENEVA – A spokeswoman for the Union Pacific Railroad confirmed that a train hit a pedestrian with the closest intersection being Randall and Keslinger Roads at 3:45 p.m. Friday.

The pedestrian, who was not in the crossing, was pronounced dead at the scene, Spokeswoman Kristen South said.

Inbound and outbound trains were halted on the Union Pacific West Metra line after a freight train struck the pedestrian, according to a Metra alert.

Most outbound trains are departing Chicago on time but may incur delays near Geneva because there is only one track open in that area. Commuters are urged to visit metrarail.com or listen to platform announcements for current delay information.
