The American had already set a record by becoming the youngest player to qualify for the main draw of Wimbledon in the professional era, before seeing off her idol Venus Williams on day one of the tournament. Then, on Wednesday, she dealt with Magdalena Rybarikova in straight sets on Court No1 to reach the third round.
Gauff, who is known as Coco, has been in no mood to tamp down the huge expectations.
“I want to be the greatest,” she said, evoking boxing icon Muhammad Ali.
