Women’s health office opens in Ellsworth

Melissa Hunt

ELLSWORTH — Physical therapist Melissa Hunt has opened a physical therapy and health coaching clinic focusing on women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction.

Cardinal Women’s Health is located at 5 School St.

Hunt, who has a doctorate in physical therapy from Husson University, is a Maine native and mother of two.

She aims to provide patient-focused care and create an environment where women can be well-educated on their bodies and strive to meet their goals.

“A lot of women I see are dealing with pelvic issues they are afraid or embarrassed to talk about. It is my goal as a health care professional to make sure that they have a safe space to talk about those issues. I want women to feel their voices are heard and assure them that they are not alone,” Hunt said.

Pelvic floor therapy treats pelvic pain, incontinence and back pain associated with pregnancy. Non-invasive treatments include individualized exercise programs, diet changes and manual therapy techniques.

Other services include cancer rehabilitation therapy, orthopedics and women’s health coaching.
