Three injured in Vernon County head on crash

COON VALLEY, Wis. (WXOW) – Three people are hurt, including an infant, in a two vehicle head-on crash near Coon Valley Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 11:40 a.m. along Highway 14/61 near Hellwig Lane west of Coon Valley.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, one of the vehicles crossed over into the path of the oncoming vehicle.

One of the vehicles contained a driver, infant, and a dog. Only one person was in the other vehicle. All three were taken to La Crosse hospitals by Tri-State Ambulance for treatment. The sheriff’s office said they believed the injuries were non-life threatening.

One person was extricated from one of the vehicles according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.

The dog was treated at a vet clinic located by the crash scene.

Besides the sheriff’s office, Coon Valley Fire and the Shelby Fire Depatment were at the scene.

At 1 p.m., the scene was cleared according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
