WISCONSIN DELLS (WKOW) — Multiple agencies have suspended their search for a child who is missing after slipping under the water of the Wisconsin River, north of Wisconsin Dells Tuesday evening. Much of the search took place in an area called The Narrows.
Adams County Sheriff Brent York says the first 911 calls came in just before 6:00 p.m.
The search for the child, who is from the area, included the Sauk County dive team. York says the Sheriff’s Office chaplain has been with the child’s family during the search. He declined to release any more information about the child.
The search was suspended before 10:00. York said the part of the river where rescuers focused their search presents unique challenges for rescuers. He said the current is particularly strong in the area.
