Man charged in chaotic break-in at Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign offices

A D.C. man is facing a series of charges after barricading himself in a utility closet in a Queens building that’s home to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign, cops said Sunday.

Douala Hashi, 31, allegedly argued with security on the ground floor of the Jackson Heights building just before 5 p.m. Saturday and ran up to the third floor, where he refused to leave, according to police.

When cops arrived at 74-09 37th Ave., Hashi sprayed the officers with a fire extinguisher, creating a “cloud condition,” and ran into a utility closet holding a broken bottle, the NYPD said.

Hashi was taken to Elmhurst Hospital for psychiatric evaluation and charged Sunday with menacing, three counts of criminal mischief and two counts of trespassing.

It was first reported Saturday that Hashi had broken into AOC’s offices, but the NYPD said Sunday, the freshman representative’s offices were “never breached.”

AOC was in Washington when the event unfolded.
