Resources Technology Showcase 2019: Two-day innovation event to put Perth mining technology on the map

On November 27 and 28, the Resources Technology Showcase 2019 will shine a light on the technology that is transforming Australia’s resources sector.

Hosted by Seven West Media and supported by Austrade and the Government of Western Australia, the Resources Technology Showcase 2019 will see an unprecedented number of Australian mining and energy leaders come together to outline the future of their industry.

The two-day conference and exhibition will see chief executives, managing directors and chief technology officers from companies including BHP, Rio, Woodside, Chevron, Shell, Citic Pacific, Fortescue Metals Group and Santos give a behind-the-scenes account of how they technology changing their businesses in years to come.

They will explain how artificial intelligence, autonomous drilling, robotics, remote operations and drone technology is shaping their industry and how advances in renewable energy, battery technology and the emerging hydrogen economy are changing the future.

Federal Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Simon Birmingham said the showcaseevent would provide a unique platform for promoting Australia’s cutting-edge resource technologies to business leaders and investors from around the world.

“We are a resources rich nation, but we need to continue to further investment to advance our industry further up the value chain in areas such as processing and advanced manufacturing,” he said.

“Australia, and particularly WA is home to some of the world’s leading mining, oil and gas conglomerates, offering investors excellent collaboration prospects and access to global supply chains.

“We don’t just export our mineral resources nowadays but also our expertise in the safe and efficient extraction of resources. This showcase will allow us to share the best of Australian mining technology and skills with potential markets from around the world.

“Our mining equipment, technology, and services companies underpin the ongoing success of our resources sector that generate significant export earnings, helps drive our economy and employs millions of Australians.

“From automated vehicles and robotics to radar and laser-based geotechnical systems improving mine site safety, innovation continues to fuel our mining industry.”

As a Government, we are absolutely determined to support job-creating LNG projects like Browse and Scarborough and we have been working constructively with industry to get them across the line. Bringing this gas onshore will create tens of thousands of WA jobs over many decades, and new opportunities for innovation.

We will continue to work to grow our reputation as a centre for scientific and technical innovation in the mining and oil and gas sectors.
