Love Island star Sherif Lanre booted out of villa for ‘breaking rules’

Love Island star Sherif Lanre booted out of villa for 'breaking rules'

Love Island 2019 star Sherif Lanre has been booted out of villa for breaking the show’s rules.

The chef and semi-pro rugby player, 20, from London, agreed to leave the show following talks with bosses.

His departure comes just nine days after the show’s launch.

A Love Island spokesman told Mirror Online: “After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.”

Sherif said: “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.

“I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.

“I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.”

Sherif was one of the original contestants who joined the show on Day Dot last week.

Sherif’s departure leaves Anna single

He was mired in drama from the start as none of the girls picked him at the first coupling – sparking a race row.

The telly star was then paired with Anna and they seemed to have been growing closer over the last few days.

During a trip to the Beach Hut, Sherif confessed he was thrilled to be getting along with Anna.

He said: “Outside on the terrace it was just a peck but that in itself means that she is opening up to me. It was nice.”

There are no more details about why Sherif was booted from the villa today, but it’s hoped it may be explained in the show tonight.

Before entering the villa, Sherif said his “outrageous” side often got him into trouble.

He said: “I’m pretty outrageous, that can also translate to the bad side.

“On top of that, I laugh at everything which sometimes gets me into trouble. I can’t really take anything seriously.

“My actual laugh, my hysterical laugh is pretty ugly. People around me get that a lot and have to deal with it.”

He was not picked during the first coupling

He added of his personality: “I’m upbeat and cheeky and outrageous with my own friends so hopefully that continues in the villa.

“I’m always on a mission to make people laugh.”

Sherif is not the first Islander to be given the boot from the show.

Last year, original Islander Niall Aslam left the villa shortly after the launch for “personal reasons”.

He later revealed he was struggling with Asperger Syndrome.

Niall said: “For far too long I have suffered in silence and not acknowledged a massive fact about my life which going into the villa has led me to finally realise and accept.

“When I was a young child I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, a fact that until this post has never shared outside of my close family.

“Growing up was extremely difficult for me and I often felt out of place. I always felt that people didn’t understand me, yet I was afraid to reveal my true scales as I did not want the label or stigma that was attached to it.”

He added: “But now I think it is important that I come forward, not only so that I can finally be honest with myself and to those around me, but also so that other individuals in my position can embrace their true colours

Love Island airs all week at 9pm on ITV2.
