The latest on the shooting of Red Sox great David Ortiz in the Dominican Republic:

12:20 AM:

Dominican news channel CDN 37 reports that multiple people were arrested at the scene where Ortiz was shot.

12:15 AM: 

Police officials in the Dominican Republic are reportedly now saying that the shooting of Ortiz is not considered an attempted robbery, as initially reported.

11:30 PM: 

Dominican sports writer Dionisio Soldevila, citing doctor Abel Gonzalez, reports that Ortiz is still in surgery and will be for another hour, but is currently in stable condition:

Dominican news channel CDN 37 is reporting that one of Ortiz’s doctors says Big Papi is “out of danger.”

Red Sox great David Ortiz was reportedly shot in some type of incident in the Dominican Republic, according to reports from a number of media outlets in the island nation.

There is no information immediately available on Ortiz’s condition.

According to CDN 37, a Dominican news channel, Ortiz was shot in a section of Santo Domingo and was transported to a medical center. A suspect is reportedly in custody.

According to Enrique Rojas of ESPN, Ortiz’s father confirmed the shooting incident.

ESPN National Writer Marly Rivera added that the incident was an attempted burglary.
