Stillwater police units are responding to a potential hostage situation in the 200 block of Elm Street, according to reports from people at the scene.
There is a confirmed armed presence around Prime Place Apartments, and OSU students received a text alert of the hostage situation. One tenant said after leaving the complex to go to the store and coming back, she was not allowed to enter the complex.
Another tenant who sais she lives on the first floor got the alert and stayed put until police began to enter the building. She left on her own, but said others from upper floors were being evacuated.
Multiple people at the scene have said the situation is occurring on the fourth floor. An officer was head tell someone that “it’s going to be while.”
Tenants who are returning to the building are not allowed in by police. Police have entered the building.
